When there is no rhyme or reason when patience thins when the inside of your head is a traffic jam in the heat of summer make some scrambled eggs. Eggs are all right for dinner. Start them slowly over a low flame with plenty of butter melted in a saucepan. Drop all feelings of wanting to rush like you would one too many bags at the airport. Give them a stir with a wooden spoon and all the time in the world. Heat up a pan on the side with a clove of garlic and a sprig of thyme or basil, for bringing cherry tomatoes to a temperature of warm and wilted. Fry yourself a piece of thick bacon and serve it all with the best bread you can get your hands on, set under the broiler for just long enough to toast and drizzled with a respectable olive oil good enough to serve to you or the Queen Mother.
