Jonathan made me dinner last night, and can I just say that they were the most beautiful baked eggs I have ever had. They are straight from the Food Network and bless the Barefoot Contessa for inspiring.
You melt a few tablespoons of butter and a few tablespoons of cream in an ovenproof heavy frying pan, by sticking it under the broiler, watching it like a newborn baby in a bath. Be sure to use the rack one down from the very top. Crack six eggs into a bowl. Bring out the frying pan from the broiler, and then pour in the eggs. Grate over a half cup of parmesan, sprinkle over a tiny bit of finely minced garlic, and a chop of whatever fresh herbs you have in the house. Back in the oven for 4 minutes, or until the white looks nearly set. They will continue to cook on their own, out of the oven. Serve them with great big garlic croutons, and a pile of wilted baby spinach drizzled with your very best and beloved olive oil.
Have chocolate truffles for dessert, just because melting chocolate is only good for you (1 part heavy cream to 2 parts chocolate). Whisk in a little Gran Manier, let the whole thing cool in the frige, and roll them out when you are ready for them, giving them a dip in euopean cocoa as a little post dinner activity.
